Microsoft has reminded customers that Windows 11 version 23H2 Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise editions will stop receiving security updates next month. In its message center post it says the November 2026 Windows security update will be the last one for these editions, and that afterwards devices will no longer receive monthly updates with protections against new threats. Windows 11 23H2 Home and Pro already reached end of support in November 2025.
Microsoft recommends moving eligible devices to a supported version. Windows 11 26H2 (the Windows 11 2026 Update) became generally available in September 2026 as an enablement package and is in a phased rollout; consumer support for it runs to October 2029. BleepingComputer also notes related dates: Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro stop receiving updates this week (24H2 Enterprise and Education stay supported until October 2027), and Windows Server 2022 moves from mainstream to extended support (until October 14, 2031).
How to check if you’re affected
Affected versions are Windows 11 version 23H2 on Enterprise, Education and IoT Enterprise editions. To check a device, press Win+R, type winver and read the version line, or open Settings > System > About. If it shows 23H2 on one of those editions, plan the upgrade before the November update cycle ends.
Microsoft says 26H2 installs automatically on eligible devices that have turned on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available,” with a single restart. You can also open Settings > Windows Update, click “Check for updates,” and choose “Download and install Windows 11, version 26H2” if it is offered. Managed fleets should check their update-management tooling for eligibility rather than waiting for the phased rollout.
